Waltham Water Quality Update

Waltham has issued another water quality notice.

A third coliform sample was detected in Waltham's water supply on Saturday morning, but there is no threat to public safety, according to the city's announcement.

Resident do not have to boil their water, according to the announcement. 

The new detection comes days after workers detected coliform at 1560 Trapelo Rd.

According to the Washington State Department of health, coliform bacteria can be indicators of pathogens in the the water.

City officials believe the latest detection comes from an old pipe in front of Autodesk at the 1560 Trapelo Rd. site. The city plans to abandon the pipe and continue flushing the system near the site. Also, additional chlorine will be added to the water.
