UPDATE: Movie Filming in Waltham Delayed to Friday; Traffic Delays

A film starring Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet plans to film in downtown Waltham on Friday, Aug. 10.

UPDATED, 4:07 p.m.: Waltham Police Sgt. Dennis Deveney tweeted today that shooting would be delayed to Friday, Aug. 10 starting at 8 a.m.

Watch for traffic delays tomorrow, Aug. 9, near on Main Street as film crews shoot a scene from an upcoming movie staring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.

Filming for "Labor Day" was originally supposed to take place on Wednesday, Aug. 8, but was delayed one day, according to the film's assistant location manager, Patrick Donovan. 

Filming will impact traffic in the area between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to Sgt. William Gallant. Crews will be periodically closing Main Street near the diner for up to five minutes to give crews time to film inside the diner, Gallant said. Motorists will have to use the following detours:

  • Coming from the east, the route will be Appleton Street to Central Street and onto Newton Street and then back to Main Street, Gallant said.
  • Coming from the west, the detour route will be Lyman Street to School Street to Lexington Street and then back to Main Street, Gallant said. 

Parking will be prohibited in certain areas, Gallant said.
