On the article Would You Support Higher Taxes in Waltham?
CP

ReplyI would not support higher taxes since I can barely pay my city taxes on my social security income. I think we have many city programs that can be cut. I am forced to shop in NH now because of the sales tax, even for food.

ReplyI am in favor of a year moritorium. Let's see how this works out in other communities. Since these facilities need to grow their own I can see theft of the product as a real issue. We have more than enough illegal use of marijuana in the city so we should be cautious.

ReplyWhat a shame. We teach our kids to look to police for protection. His admission is respected by me. He needs a lot of help. Feel sorry for his kids and all the other kids. But it is time to pay the piper.

Mr. G. - I agree. Waltham is an insulated community. I have lived in NYC and Chicago and the breakdown of family values has a great deal to do with it. These Waltham people have no clue what violence really is. When gangs start roaming the streets, they will be in total fear and unprepared due to their own fault.

On the article Will Deval Patrick's $1.9 Billion Tax Hike Pass?
CP

ReplyNo this increase should not pass. We have a lot of waste to find and get rid of before that happens. I already do most shopping over the border in NH and won't have a problem moving there if taxes keep skyrocketing. When Obamacare hits I may move anyway unless Mass opts out. Private sector is already moving to drop spouse coverage under this idiotic bill. Wait til that kicks in and those spouses have to go purchase individual insurance with higher premiums than this year.

ReplyWho really knows what either of these guys really are. They can tell you whatever they want to get your vote. I don't trust these polititians. Maybe I'll stay under the covers. Of course then I would never be able to blame anyone but myself unlike the pres.

ReplyWe have the same issues on Moody St. When its dark and raining people crossing the street not even in crosswalks are hard to see and let me tell you they do not hurry. I almost hit someone last Sunday around 6pm.

On the article Sidewalk Snow-Clearing Requirement Proposed for Waltham
CP
5:04 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2013
ReplyNo, this should not take effect. I am 70 and can barely shovel my steps. I simply stop my mail so noone has to walk to my house. I can't afford to hire someone either. The plows always pile the snow on my side of the street and the sidewalk would need a blower to move it. I oppose this idea. Do the streets and the walkways downtown; leave the other decision to the taxpayers.

There are far more important issues to be discussed than this. Interference in private property issues is not your concern.
