The hearing is held to decided wheter Waltham parents can send their students to another school district.
A public hearing to decide whether Waltham should participate in the School Choice program will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Waltham High School. The program allows parents to send their children to schools outside of their community, according to the Massachsuestts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Web site.

The Tuesday, March 19 school closing delayed the last day of school for students.
As a result of the recent snow day on Tuesday, March 19, the last day of Waltham Public Schools for students is now Monday, June 24, according to the district's website.
Under a proposal, several students would move from the Whittemore school to the Fitzgerald school.
Waltham parents say they are concerned about a proposed School Committee plan that would shift some elementary students and staff to a different school. “We want to look at other options,” Northeast Elementary School PTO President Sandy LeBrun told the School Committee during its regular March 20 meeting at Waltham High School. “The buzz about redistricting has a lot of very concerned.” The proposed shift is part of the district’s effort to alleviate building space issues in the elementary schools caused by increasing enrollment. I am not a parent, but I am a Waltham taxpayer and voter. I am concerned about the cost of "school choice." Who would pay for the expense of transporting students out of Waltham to their chosen schools? Would the other communities be reimbursed for the burden of additional students from Waltham?
