Up to 8 inches could fall in town on Monday night and during the day Tuesday.
Spring begins Wednesday, but Old Man Winter wants to get in one more whack before winter goes away. Forecasters predict as much as 8 inches of snow could fall in the Waltham area tonight into Tuesday. Nevertheless, the rain/snow line falls just west of Boston, meaning Waltham could see more rain than snow. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Waltham area beginning at 9 p.m. Monday and lasting through 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Look out for heavy snow and ice, and between 4 and 8 inches of snow, according the NWS warning. Snow will likely make Tuesday morning's commute a difficult one, the NWS warns. WHDH Channel 7 meteorologist Jeremy Reiner predicts that snow will begin falling between 11 p.m. Monday and 1 a.…

Once again, the snow is melting. But once again, don't put the shovels away: the weekend could bring more snow. A new snowstorm is headed our way for Saturday and Sunday, forecasters say, and Waltham could see up to 12 inches of new snow before it's done. On his blog, WHDH meteorologist Pete Bouchard is calling for light rain along the coast Saturday with snow inland and snow across the region by Sunday morning. "Heavy snow through early morning Sunday. Roads will be tough to travel, and yes, your flight will most likely be delayed or cancelled. (Although I don't run an airline, so I'll let them have the final word.)," Bouchard writes. As of now, forecasts call for 8 to 12 inches of new snow in the towns just inside of Rte. 128.

Forecasters are warning the timing of an approaching snowstorm may make Monday afternoon and evening commute slippery.
There may be an inch of snow on the ground on Monday evening during the evening commute, according to forecasters at WHDH-TV. "Don't expect a ton of snow, but a general 1-3" falls late Monday afternoon, through the evening, producing slick roads, perhaps in time for the ride home from work," writes meterologist Chris Lambert in his blog. Even though not much snow will fall, Lambert said that the snow "will create slick spots on the roads Monday evening and Monday night." Accuweather.com forecasts that the snow will start between 5-7 p.m. in Waltham. The precipitation will change over to sleet later in the evening. Based on the forecast, the weather service has issued a winter weather advisory that runs from 1 p.m. on Monday through 6 a.m. …
