Waltham Snow Emergency/Parking Ban To Be Lifted Sunday

Read this for more information on when the snow emergency will be lifted.

The snow emergency in Waltham will be lifted at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, according to Consolidated Public Works Director Michael Chiasson. Starting at 10 a.m., motorists will again be allowed to park their cars on the street, Chiasson said. Also, motorists must have their cars out of Waltham Public School lots by 10 a.m., Chiasson said, in order for crews to clean the lots. Motorists must have their cars out of city-owned lots by Monday before regular parking hours in the lots resume. We want to make sure that Waltham stays connected. My boyfriend was driving around the South Side today (Sunday), and he said that the streets are an unplowed mess. Some of the side streets off Moody Street have ruts and mounds of snow in the middle -- poorly plowed or not plowed at all!   more ›

Snow Emergency Declared for Waltham

The incoming snow storm could become a blizzard.

A snow emergency has been declared for Waltham as of 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, according to the Consolidated Public Works Director Michael Chiasson. On-street parking is prohibited. Violators are subject to tow. Residents may park in any of the city’s school lots until 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10. Residents must move their cars from school lots by 10 a.m. on Sunday, according to Chiasson. Residents may park in any of the municipal lots on Saturday and Sunday, regardless of whether they have a parking permit, Chiasson said. On Monday, Feb. 11, parking enforcement officers will resume regular ticketing in city lots.  As we prepare for the winter storm, we want to make sure that Waltham stays connected. Waltham Parking Ban Lifted

The news comes after moderate snowfall in the city.

The parking ban and snow emergency has been lifted in Waltham, according to police. This means motorists can resume parking their vehicles on the street. However, regular parking rules posted on your street still apply. The parking ban and snow emergency was imposed on Dec. 29 in response to moderate snowfall in the city.

When Do Winter Parking Rules Start?

Be alert for more parking regulation enforcement.

With the winter approaching, Waltham Police will son increase enforcement of the overnight parking ban, according to the department's Facebook page. Currently, motorists are prohibited from parking on the street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless signs say otherwise. Parking on the street is also prohibited during snow emergencies. Police plan to increase enforcement of the ban as the winter approaches, according to its Facebook page.

Waltham Winter Parking Ban Goes Into Effect Soon

Follow the rules or get a ticket.

The annual winter parking ban will start again on Nov. 1, according to the Waltham Police Department's Facebook page. The ban means that no vehicles can be parked on the street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. unless otherwise noted. That also means parking is banned on any public streets during sow emergencies. More than two inches of snow is considered a snow emergency.
