Belmont Man Arrested In Waltham Hit-And-Run

Victim is home recovering from his injuries.

A 23-year-old Belmont man is under arrest for allegedly hitting a Bentley University student and fleening the scene of the accident, according to Waltham Police. Eric Romero, 23, of Belmont, faces one charge of leaving the scene of a crash after causing personal injury stemming from a Sept. 16 incident in which Romero allegedly struck the student at Chesnut and Hall Streets, according to Waltham Police Sgt. William Gallant. The Valley News identified the victim as 18-year-old Zachary Pollard of Lebanon, New Hampshire.  Police found Romero after searchi several location, Gallant said. Judge Orders Blanca Contreras Held Without Bail

Contreras is accused of hitting and killing a Waltham man while driving last year.

Blanca Contreras, the woman accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed Waltham resident Scott Coxall in November, will not return to her native Guatemala after being ordered held without bail today in court, according to the Boston Herald. A spokesperson for the District Attorney's office said last week that the DA planned to ask that Contreras be held without bail to prevent her from leaving the country. In an email sent to Waltham Patch today, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Ross Feinstein said Contreras is in state custody. The Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office plans to request that an illegal immigrant charged with killing a Waltham man be held without bail before she can be deported back to Guatemala. The DA’s office plans to ask an immigration judge on Monday to order Blanca Contreras held without bail to prevent her from leaving the country, spokesman Jessica Pastore said. Despite the deportation approval, Pastore said the DA’s office intends to try, convict and sentence Contreras before she leaves the country. A federal immigration judge last week approved deporting Blanca Contreras, a 29 year-old illegal immigrant charged with motor vehicle homicide in the death of Scott Coxall, 39, last November, according to the Herald. Now, law enforcement officials, Coxall’s father and federal Homeland Security officials are objecting to the decision. Woman Accused Of Killing Waltham Man In Process of Deportation

Blanca Contreras is accused of killing 39-year-old Scott Coxall in November.

The woman accused of running over and killing and Waltham man is in the process of being deported, according to federal immigration officials. The Middlesex County District Attorney, however, has asked federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to keep 29-year-old Blanca Contreras in the country to stand trial for motor vehicle homicide. Authorities believe she struck and killed Scott Coxall the day before Thanksgiving. “I can confirm for you that she is currently in ICE custody and in removal proceedings,” ICE spokesman Ross Feinstein told Waltham Patch in an email. Police are asking for the public's help in finding the alleged robber of a variety store. Alleged Waltham Hit-and-Run Driver Ordered Held On Bail; Is Illegal Immigrant

A 29-year-old Waltham woman, living in the U.S. illegally, and accused of killing a Waltham man in a pedestrian accident, was ordered held $50,000 bail during a Waltham District Court hearing today. Waltham District Court Judge Gregory Flynn ordered Blanca Contreras, who has a 3-year-old son, held on $50,000 cash bail ($500,000 surety), and placed conditions on her if she posts the bail. She is being held at MCI-Framingham, a state prison, FOX 25 reported on Tuesday, Dec. 6. A Waltham woman who allegedly struck and killed a Waltham man last month now faces charges in connection with his death. Blanca Contreras, of Waltham, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 2 and charged with reckless motor vehicle homicide, Middlesex County District Attorney Spokesman Cara O’Brien told Patch on Saturday, Dec. 3 Contreras is already facing charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of causing personal injury and leaving the scene of property damage.
