A 23-year-old Belmont man is under arrest for allegedly hitting a Bentley University student and fleening the scene of the accident, according to Waltham Police. Eric Romero, 23, of Belmont, faces one charge of leaving the scene of a crash after causing personal injury stemming from a Sept. 16 incident in which Romero allegedly struck the student at Chesnut and Hall Streets, according to Waltham Police Sgt. William Gallant. The Valley News identified the victim as 18-year-old Zachary Pollard of Lebanon, New Hampshire. Police found Romero after searchi several location, Gallant said. Blanca Contreras, the woman accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed Waltham resident Scott Coxall in November, will not return to her native Guatemala after being ordered held without bail today in court, according to the Boston Herald. A spokesperson for the District Attorney's office said last week that the DA planned to ask that Contreras be held without bail to prevent her from leaving the country. The woman accused of running over and killing and Waltham man is in the process of being deported, according to federal immigration officials. The Middlesex County District Attorney, however, has asked federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to keep 29-year-old Blanca Contreras in the country to stand trial for motor vehicle homicide. Authorities believe she struck and killed Scott Coxall the day before Thanksgiving. “I can confirm for you that she is currently in ICE custody and in removal proceedings,” ICE spokesman Ross Feinstein told Waltham Patch in an email.
