Waltham's Week In Review

Search for new school chief, local musicians and more.

The Waltham School Committee announced it would soon start interviews for a new school superintendent.  The district is looking for a new chief to replace former superintendent Peter Azar, who resigned last year. Now, interview are set to begin Friday, Jan. 24, and run through Monday, Feb. 11. The Connors Memorial Pool, currently closed, will reopen next summer, one renovations are complete. The state-owned pool has been closed since 2001, for safety and financial reasons. Waltham-based CaptureCode unveiled a new mobile phone application that allows users to more easily obtain discounts at their favorite merchants. Interviews For Waltham School Chief To Start Soon

Candidates will be interviewed later this month.

Interviews for candidates to lead the Waltham Public School District will begin later this month. The district is searching for a new chief to replace former superintendent Peter Azar, who resigned last year amid a dispute with School Committee members. Assistant Superintendent for Administration Anne Marie Carr-Reardon has been managing the district in the interim.  Interviews will begin Monday, Jan. 24 and run through Friday, Feb. 11, School Committee member Lisa Limonciello said during Wednesday's meeting. An 11- member search committee, of which Limonciello is a member, is overseeing the search. Waltham Searches for New School Leader

Deadline looms to apply for the job.

Next steps in the search for a new Waltham Public Schools superintendent get underway immediately in the new year. The Waltham School Committee's 11-member search committee is looking for a new leader for the district to replace former Superintendent Peter J. Azar, who left earlier this year, reportedly after clashes with the School Committee. Assistant Superintendent for Administration Anne Marie Carr-Reardon has been managing the district. The search committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Jan. 3 at the high school during which they will finalize a list of interview questions for candidates.
