Search For A New Waltham Special Education Chief Delayed

Search will resume in April.

The search for a new director of special education has been delayed. Whoever is eventually hired will replace former director, Dr. Edward McCormack, who retired last year. Paula Alexander, usually the assistant director, is filling in as the acting director. The School Committee, at its Wednesday meeting, delayed reposting advertisements for the position until Friday, April 15, but decided to allow current applicants the opportunity to stay in the running for the job. Despite the approval, various committee members had differing views on the matter. Member Rick Cincotta said the committee had been scheduled to conduct interviews last month, until they were suddenly delayed, without explanation.  “I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that…
