With the recent closing of Sadie's Saloon on Pine Street, an empty building now remains. It now needs a new tenant. The site is easily accesible by car, foot and bus. A new pizzeria has opened on Moody Street.
Charcoal Guido's Pizzeria Bar has opened at the top of restaurant row on Moody Street, according to its co-owner. The restaurant, located at 482 Moody St. between Tempo and Habanero's opened on Wednesday, Nov. 14, co-owner Lou Giovanetti said on Twitter. Giovanetti said there was no formal announcement as the restaurant is still ironing out details. The opening comes in the wake of several recent closings in the Moody Street area, which has left some eatery owners worried. However, several companies have proposed new restaurants in Waltham including Panera Bread, Chipotle and Five Guys.

Local restauranteurs worry about eatery viability on Moody Street.
Some Waltham restauranteurs are expressing concern over a recent string of restaurant closings on Moody Street, according to the Boston Globe. Several Moody Street restaurant owners told the Globe they were worried about the eatery turnover rate on Moody Street area in the wake of Boca Restaurant & Bar closing along with Sadie's Saloon and Upper Crust. Tempo Bistro owner Erin Barnicle told the Globe it was worrisome to watch the three places close, but Waltham's License Commission Chairman Wayne Brasco told the newspaper the turnover rate has always been higher than in other towns as independently-owned restaurants come and go. Blue laws prohibit retailers from opening before midnight on Black Friday.
Black Friday is starting earlier than ever, as some national retailers have announced they will open the night of Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 22. However, here in Massachusetts, state blue laws prohibit stores from opening until midnight, according to an article in the Boston Globe. Current blue laws prohibit retailers in the state from opening on Thanksgiving, thus preventing them from getting an early start on Black Friday sales, according to the Globe article. Some exceptions are restaurants, health care facilities and gas stations.
