On behalf of the Downtown Initiative Committee of the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Waltham and neighboring communities for their support of local, independent small businesses on Small Business Saturday, November 24th. Shop Small Saturday, the day after Black Friday each year, was created to remind people that local small businesses are the foundation of a community. Many small business owners support local charities and pay local taxes. Where we shop, where we eat and where we spend our cultural and recreation time, makes our community home. Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses their community thrives on. If you are a small business owner, leave your deal in the comments section below, so that residents can support your business. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. While Black Friday may be the official start to the holiday shopping season, Small Business Saturday isn't far behind. Here in Waltham, shoppers have the opportunity to browse a plethora of local, independently-owned stores in the city.
