New details emerged recently on the proposal to locate a TD Bank at the former Polaroid site. TD Bank has requested a special permit to operate a drive-thru window at 1265 Main St. After a Monday, March 25 public hearing at City Hall, the request was referred to the City Council’s Ordinance & Rules Committee for further review. However, the bank could open without a drive-thru. The bank’s hours would be 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday – Friday and 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays., according to J & CO. Project Manage Rick Vallarelli. New details on the proposed Starbucks emerged during a City Council meeting on Monday, March 25. The store, proposed for the former Polaroid site at 1265 Main St., would span 1,700 square feet, according to J & Co. Project Manager Rick Vallarelli. Its projected hours would be 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. Also, the store would have 18 outdoor seats and 26 inside seats, according to attorney Phil McCourt, who represents the site's developers, 1265 Main St. LLC. Specifically, the company has requested special permits to operate a fast food establishment and a drive-thru at the site. The public hearing for a proposed Starbucks location at the former Polaroid site will be held on Monday, March 25. If approved, it would be Waltham's first Starbucks location. Two previous proposals were shot down by city officials. Specifically, Starbucks is requesting a special permit to operate a fast food establishment at 1265 Main St. (the Polaroid site) and a seperate permit to operate a drive-thru window, according to the City Clerk's office. The hearing starts at around 8 p.m. at City Hall. Marshall's, Market Basket, TD Bank, Jake 'n Joes and Bonefish Grill are all slated to opens location at the site.

Construction on buildings at the complex may begin in 2013.
Several tenants have now been confirmed for the retail/office development at the former Polaroid site, according to an announcement from the mayor's office. Market Basket, Bonefish Grille, TD Bank, Marshalls, Starbucks, and Jake & Joes (a sports bar and grill) have all been confirmed, according to an announcement from RMD Retail Management & Development, provided to Waltham Patch by the mayor's office. Starbucks could be coming to Waltham.
For the third time since 2003, Starbucks has proposed opening its first location in Waltham, according to Traffic Commission documents. The Commission is scheduled to discuss traffic impacts from the Starbucks during its Wednesday, Dec. 19 meeting at 10 a.m. at City Hall. The Starbucks would be located inside the proposed shopping complex at the old Polaroid side at 1265 Main St., according to Commission documents. A bank, yet to be named, has also been proposed for the site. Both merchants would include drive-thru windows. Orange Leaf, a national frozen-yogurt chain, is hoping to open a new store in Waltham, according to the Waltham franchisee. The company is looking to open its new store at the Main Street Market Place at 1030 Main St. or at the former Polaroid site at 1265 Main St., according to Joe Benson, the Waltham franchisee for Orange Leaf. “We are contemplating a move to Waltham,” Benson told Waltham Patch. The Waltham Fire Department is warning residents about blasting at the former Polaroid site, which is currently under renovation for a new development. The blasting, at 1265 Main St., is being onducted Monday - Friday, from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., according to the Waltham Fire Department. The blasting could run as long as three months. More than one blast may be conducted each day which could cause associated shaking, according to the fire department. To receive a daily blasting schedule, please call 781-314-3710. The Waltham Church of God was struck by an electrical fire Monday night, displacing six residents. A Waltham man was chagred with bilking several women out of $200,000 after meeting them on dating Web sites. Patch highlighted a local Waltham student doing well on the dance floor.
