See what City Councilor Robert Logan has to say on the recent controversy around the Main Street Marketplace.
The following is a letter to the editor from City Councilor Robert Logan. This is in response to the various comments posted under the article “Delays For Five Guys/Panera/Chipotle Opening?” I am somewhat reluctant to even bother responding because most of the comments have been posted by wise crackers who think they have all the answers, but don’t have a clue what they are talking about. However, for the benefit of those intelligent few who have attempted to engage in some level of civil discourse, here is the story. FACT: The delays have all been the fault of the developer/property owner. There three “fast-food” special permits currently pending before the City Council -- Panera Bread, Five Guys and Chipotle. However, before these were …

The plans for a Five Guys, Chipotle and Panera Bread in Waltham have hit a snag.
Mistakes in the construction of the new shopping complex at 1030 Main St. are forcing city officials to further review and correct previously approved plans for the site, according to city officials. Lack of fencing, placement of an unapproved drive-thru windows and other mistakes forced Five Guys, Panera Bread and Chipotle and City Councilors to request more time to review the companies' requests for fast food permits at the site, according to City Councilor Ed Tarallo, who chairs the city's Rules & Ordiance Committee overseeing the permit requests. All three eateries have plans to open at the site, which is known as the Main Street Marketplace. The mistakes did not appear on the plans originally approved by the City Council. As a result …

An update on the proposals for three eateries in Waltham.
Mistakes in construction of the new Main Street Marketplace have thrown a wrinkle into the plans for a new Five Guys, Panera Bread and Chipotle. As a result, the Waltham City Council has approved giving the three companies more time to review and receive their special fast food permits required to operate a fast food or "fast casual" eatery in Waltham. All three stores would be located at the new shopping plaza at 1030 Main St. City Councilor Ed Tarallo, who chairs the city's Ordinance & Rules Committee that has been reviewing the applications, said more review is needed due to the tenant's spaces being built in violation of previously approved site conditions. He did not elaborate further. iParty and Doctors Express are already …

An update on the proposed second Panera Bread in Waltham.
Panera Bread proposed a second location in Waltham months ago, but what has happened since then? Well, months after their June hearing for a special fast food permit to open a a new location at the new Main Street Marketplace at 1030 Main St., the city's Rules & Ordinance Committee and Panera Bread are asking for more time to review the application, according to city council records. No reason was immediately given for the request. Panera Bread tweeted on Wednesday, Dec. 5, that it was aiming to open the new location in March, if "all goes according to plan."
