Waltham residents Laurel Ainslie is riding in her ninth Pan-Mass Challenge.
Most people might buck at the idea of riding almost 110 miles on a bicycle in two days, but not Waltham resident Laurie Ainslie. Ainslie is more concerned about raising enough money for participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge scheduled for Aug. 4 - 5. Ainslie said this will be her ninth PMC. Ainslie is just one of the group of Waltham residents riding in the race that raises money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's cancer research and treatment. "You can say a bit of it is personal challenge," said Ainslie in a recent interview with Waltham Patch on why she is riding the Sturbridge-Provincetown route. Most people might cringe at the thought of biking more than 100 miles across Massachusetts, but not Waltham resident William Baldwin. Baldwin is itching to start his 100+ mile trek in the Pan-Mass Challenge scheduled for Aug 4 - 5. The PMC has riders raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's cancer treatment and research. He is just one of many Waltham residents riding in the challenge this year. Baldwin will be riding the 110 mile route from Sturbridge to Provincetown, he told Waltham Patch in a recent interview. This is his ninth year doing the race. "I'm excited. I always get excited because it's such a great weekend,” Baldwin said.
