Massachusetts State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Middlesex County on Saturday, April 6 and into Sunday, April 7. Police will conduct the car checkpoint somewhere in Middlesex County, which includes Waltham. Police, however, do not announce the exact location of the checkpoint. MassDOT has announced that driving on the Route 128 breakdown lane has been discontinued as a fourth travel lane is open.

State Police are now looking out for drivers who use the breakdown lane on Route 128. In an effort to reduce the Route 128 bottlenecks between Route 24 and Route 9, the Mass Department of Transportation (MassDOT) added a fourth travel lane to I-93/95 along that stretch. With that addition, driving in the breakdown lane is now prohibited between Route 24 and Route 109. Signs along the highways and State Police patrols will inform drivers of the change, according to a MassDOT announcement. The breakdown lane is now reserved for emergency vehicles and disabled cars. According to the release, drivers have been able to use the breakdown lane on weekdays at peak hours with permission from the Federal Highway Adinistration since 1986. However…

State Police have arrested two people they believe could be linked to both bank robberies.
The Massachusetts State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating two individuals for their possible connection to two bank robberies on Jan. 8, including one in Waltham, according to State Police. State Police arrested two men on Jan. 8 after a short vehicle pursuit in Boston and later discovered evidence that could link them to the robberies of a Sovereign Bank in Waltham and East Cambridge Bank in Arlington, according to State Police. State Police are investigating Andrea Koutis, 30, of Arlington and Erik Stout, 35, of Somerville. State Police arrested the pair after a brief car chase on Soldier's Field Road in Boston. The state of New Jersey asked for help with devastation in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, requesting that nearby states send law enforcement officers to help keep peace and order in the hardest-hit areas of New Jersey.
