As lifelong Waltham residents, we could not be more thankful for the years spent as members of this community. As you can imagine, Roberta and I care deeply about the race to replace the retiring state Senator Susan Fargo. Kennedy is best known for his home heating oil efforts.
Joe Kennedy II, best known for his efforts to provide heating oil to needy residents, has endorsed Joe Kearns Goodwin for the 3rd Middlesex State Senate seat, according to a campaign press release. Kennedy, a former six-term Congressman for Waltham from 1987-1999, hailed Goodwin in the endorsement announcement. "Joe Kearns Goodwin has honorably served his country and his community. I’ve known him all his life and admire his passion for public service and helping others. He’ll make a great state Senator," Kennedy said in a press release. Kennedy is also the founder of Citizens Energy, which provides low-cost heating oil to needy residents.

State Rep. Thomas Stanley, and several other local officials, have endorsed Joe Kearns Goodwin for the 3rd Middlesex State Senate seat. Stanley and Goodwin made the announcement on Aug. 22 during a press conference outside of the William F. Stanley Senior Center on Main Street in Waltham. The following is a letter to the editor submitted by a Lexington resident. The 3rd Middlesex District is one of the most prosperous and diverse electorates in the Commonwealth. From the city blocks of Waltham to the forested hills of Lincoln, one State Senator will represent 160,000 people in nine towns. When Joe Kearns Goodwin runs for State Senate, he knows that while he must cherish and protect the individual identities of each town in his constituency, there are issues best served through a regional approach. The Concord-Carlisle League of Women Voters plans to hold a candidates' night for all the candidates running for the 3rd Middlesex state senate seat, the group announced in a press release. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center at 1276 Main St. in Concord. It is free and open to the public. The Democratic candidates are Mike Barrett, Alex Buck, Mara Dolan, Joe Kearns Goodwin and Joe Mullin. Republicans Gregory Howes and Sandi Martinez also plan to attend. Nancy Carapezza, the former president of the LWV, will moderate, according to the press release. Voters wanting to ask questions can email them to VoterService@lwvcc.org by Aug. 15.
