Waltham man stabbed Grace Burton, of Maine, to death in 2011.
Juan Contreras, of Waltham, has pleaded guilty to killing an elderly Maine woman last year, according to the Bangor Daily News. Contreras, 28, was sentenced to fifty years in prison. Contreras changed his plea to guilty on Nov. 8 midway through the trial, according to the newspaper. Contreras, who hails from Guatemala and is not an American citizen, will be deporated upon completing his sentence. Contreras stabbed Grace Burton, 81, of Farmington, to death in after breaking into her home in June of 2011. Contreras had been living in Waltham prior to the killing. The murder trial begins next week.
A Maine judge has ordered to limit the testimony of a psychiatrist in the trial of a Waltham man charged with killing an elderly woman in Maine, according to the Franklin Sun Journal. Juan Contreras is charged with killing Grace Burton, 81, in Farmington, Maine in June of 2011. His trial is scheduled to start the week of Nov. 5. The judge, during a hearing last week, granted the district attorney's motion to deny Dr. William Brennan from discussing Contreras's personality, according to the Sun Journal. Juan Contreras is charged with killing an elderly Maine woman.
A 27-year-old Waltham man pleaded not guilty last week to killing a Maine woman in her Farmington apartment last summer. During Friday, Jan. 20 court hearing, Juan Contreras entered a plea of not guilty for murdering Grace Burton, 81, of Farmington, Maine, according to the Morning Sentinel. A judge ordered Contreras remain held without bail, according to the Sun Journal. Contreras is scheduled to appear in court on June 5, for a status hearing, according to the Morning Sentinel. If convicted, Contreras faces a minimum 25-year jail sentence, according to the Sentinel.

A 27-year-old Waltham resident has been indicated for the murder of a Maine woman, according several media reports. A grand jury in Franklin County in Maine indicted Juan Contreras, 27, of Waltham, today on charges that he murdered 81-year-old Grace Burton, of Farmington, Maine, in June of last year, according to the Lewiston Sun Journal. Authorities have been holding Contreras in Maine since his November arrest, according to the Sun Journal. Contreras was living close to Burton at the time of the murder, according to the Sun Journal and believe he broke into Burton's home and stabbed her to death.
