Bombing Suspect Left Note in Boat, Claims Bombings Were Retribution for Afghanistan, Iraq

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev wrote a note on the boat in Watertown where police found him hiding.

Boston Marathon Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev left a goodbye note claiming that the bombings were retribution for the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and said he and his brother were martyrs. The news comes as state and federal authorities are investigating the possible connection Dzhokar and his brother, Tamerlan have to the murder of three men in a Waltham in 2011. Tsarnaev scrawled the note on the inside of the boat where police found and arrested him, according to a report on CBS News Thursday morning.  According the CBS report, the note stated: Bullets pierced the wall of the boat where the note was found. Bombing Suspect Used to Frequent the Watertown Neighborhood Where He Battled Police, Died

Tamerlan Tsarnaev used to visit East Watertown often to hang out with a friend who lives blocks from the spot where the bombing suspect got into a shootout with police.

The East Watertown neighborhood where Tamerlan Tsarnaev battled police - and where he died - was familiar ground for the Boston Marathon Bombing suspect. The route Tsarnaev took during his car ride on the night of the Watertown shootout that left him dead took him within a "stone's throw" of the home where his friend, Brendan Mess, was found murdered on Sept. 12, 2011, according to the Boston Globe. Mess, and two other men were found killed in the home, their throats slashed and bodies covered in marijuana.  State and federal authorities are investigating the possible role Tsarnaev played in the murders. Authorities reportedly have "mounting evidence" that Tsarnaev and his brother, Dzhokar killed the three men.  TAMERLAN'S WATERTOWN ROOTS …

Evidence Points to Boston Marathon Bombers' Connection to Waltham Murders

Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of the accused Boston Marathon bombers in the 2011 triple homicide in Waltham.

Authorities have amassed evidence indicating accused Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev possibly killed three men in a Waltham home in 2011, according to ABC News. Investigators have "mounting evidence" including forensics pointing toward the Tsarnaev brothers," says ABC.  Tamerlan was killed in an April 19 shootout with police in Watertown and Dzhorkar was later captured hiding in a boat in Watertown.  After the April 15 bombings, federal and state authorities began investigating the brothers' possible link to the murders after learning Tamerlan was a close friend of one of the victims, Brendan Mess. Al is right but it was not as easy as Al portrays it. Three throats slit, marijuanna flowered over the victims and $5000 in cash left there. Everything I read on it said drug deal gone bad. That is a very reasonable conclusion the police made. Maybe they could have plied more but who knows. But now we have new evidence that is very damning for Tam & Dahar (and BTW, Kathleen too because her …   more ›

Candlelight Vigil Held for Waltham Triple Murder Victims

Relatives hope to keep the unsolved case in the public eye.

A year after the triple murder on Harding Avenue in Waltham, family and friends of the victims are pushing to keep the case in the public eye and keep the memory of their loved ones alive. About 20 people gathered for a candlelight vigil Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 9 p.m., across the street form the Waltham Police Department, which has been investigating the case. In hushed tones, family and friends recalled their memories of Brendan Mess, Erik Weissman and Raphael Teken, whose bodies were discovered on Sept. 12, 2011, in Mess’s apartment at 12 Harding Ave. Authorities ruled the deaths as homicide, but never named suspects or made arrests in the case.
