State hopes to open pool in July.
Reopening of the Connors Memorial Pool, currently undergoing renovations, has been delayed until July. According to a state Department of Conservation and Recreation spokesman, contractors working on the pool have encourtered delays. DCR hopes to open the pool during the first week of July. Other state-owned pools, including a Watertown poor, will open on June 23. The Connors pool has been under renovation since 2010, and encountered several delays.

Though it is not swimming season yet, officials say Waltham residents have something to look forward to this summer — the reconstruction of Connors Memorial Pool. The state Department of Conservation and Recreation, which owns the pool located at 330 River St., closed the dilapidated facility in 2001. It had been deemed unsafe and the DCR lacked money to restore it, according to spokesman Wendy Fox. The state, however, is now investing $4.6 million dollars into the reconstruction of the entire pool, and says it is scheduled to reopen next summer, according to Fox.
