Trial Date Set for Waltham Pot-Growing Suspects

The trial of six defendants is set to start in 2013.

A trial start date has been set for several suspects charged in connection with a a marijuana-growing operating in Waltham, according to federal court records. The jury trial of Thomas Bailey, Clay Gollobin, Eric Falzon, Barbara Waldman, Mary Coman and Matthew Fox is set to begin on May 5, 2013, according to federal court records. Authorities say Gollobin, Falzon and Bailey were operating a large pot-growing operation at a Waltham warehouse. Prosecutors say Waldman, Coman and Fox were involved in laundering financial proceeds from the operation.  The court date does not guarantee the case will actually go to trial, but is the first step in the process. More Charges for Watertown Man in Waltham Pot-Growing Ring

Former Watertown Town Councilman Thomas "Gus" Bailey is facing additional charges in laundering the profits of his alleged marijuana growing operation.

Former Watertown Town Councilman Thomas "Gus' Bailey is facing additional charges for money laundering in connection with the marijuana growing operation he and several others are accused of running, according to federal court documents. Bailey now faces a new charge of laundering the proceeds of the marijuana operation, according to court documents. His ex-wife, Barbara Waldman, is facing the same charge along two other defendants, Matthew Fox and Nicole Coman. Eric Falzon, of Newton, and Clay Gollobin, of Brookline residents, also faces charges in the pot growing.  Waldman is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, July 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the federal courthouse in Boston. Pot Growing Suspect Claimed He Was 'Business Consultant' On Tax Forms

New affidavit reveals details on alleged pot growing operation.

He described himself as a business consultant on his tax forms, but a newly-released affadavit reveals that Thomas “Gus’ Bailey went to great lengths to hide his alleged marijuana operation. The affidavit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Boston by Framingham Police Officer Matthew Gutwill who was working with Drug Enforcement Administration, reveals many more details about Bailey’s alleged growing operation. Bailey, of Watertown, Eric Falzon, of Newton and  Clay Gollobin of Brookline, face federal charges for allegedly growing marijuana in a warehouse in Waltham. Waltham Pot Bust Update: Suspect Wants Access To Alleged Pot Warehouse

All three accused will appear in court next month.

While the cases of three defendants involved in a recent marijuana-growing bust were continued until December, one of them is asking for access to his alleged growing warehouse. During a pre-trial hearing at Waltham District Court on Monday, Nov. 7, former Watertown Town Councilman Thomas “Gus” Bailey, 49, through his attorney, asked for permission to visit the 269 Lexington St. warehouse in Waltham where authorities say he and two other men were growing pot. Attorney Kevin Mahoney, who is representing Bailey, requested that Bailey be allowed into the warehouse to document any damage caused by police when they raided the site last month.
