Thomas Stanley, D-Waltham to the Federal Aviation Administration regarding its proposal to alter air traffic routes that would bring additional aircraft noise to parts of Waltham. ---------- Dear Ms. English, Hope all is well. I am writing to you to express my concerns in regards to the Federal Aviation Administration’s plan to implement a new departure course from Runway 33L, within Boston Logan International Airport, scheduled for March 7. This new departure course could have a sizeable effect on the City of Waltham and the Town of Lincoln, which I represent, as part of the Ninth Middlesex District. Airplanes heading toward Logan Airport in Boston could bring more noise to Waltham residents.
Several thousand additional Waltham residents would be subjected to the noise of aircraft flying over them under a proposed plan to alter landing approach routes for planes heading toward Logan Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration’s proposal would essentially change air route navigation for runway 33L to a satellite-guided system, according to a copy of the proposal The chage would subject 6,584 additional Waltham residents to aircraft noise, according to a copy of the proposal. It's more like East Waltham, Jen P. The report contains a lot of details. The change involves planes taking off from Logan rather than those about to land (as implied by the sub-heading of this article). Planes using Runway 33L will head for a point over Medford and then follow one of serveral flight paths, depending on their final destinations. Two of those flight paths go right over Waltham. I live in North Waltham, near Bentley, and we are under the flight path for planes and helicopters from Hanscom. We do not want additional air traffic from Logan in the skies!   more ›
