Was Waltham Poised to Approve Boloco?

Boloco has cancelled its plans for a new burrito shop on Winter Street and new details on the issue have emerged.

Boloco's plans for a new location in Waltham were heading toward approval -- but a proposed restriction waylaid them, according to a city councilor.  The regional burrito chain had planned to open a new location at 475 Winter St., but the company recently axed its plans.  The City Council's Rules & Ordinance Committee was poised to recommend that the full City Council approve the company's request for a fast food permit, but with one caveat -- that Duffy Properties, which owns the building, not allow more than four restaurants at the site at any given moment, according to City Councilor Robert Logan, a member of the subcommittee. See why the regional burrito chain chose to withdraw from its plans for Waltham.

Boloco, the regional burrito chain that had planned to open a store in Waltham, was forced to withdraw its plans after the site's owner opted out of the plans in the wake of many delays, according to e-mails to Boloco CEO John Pepper.  The development comes in the wake of the burrito chain announcing it was abandoning plans for a Waltham location. Planned Waltham Burrito Restaurant Raises Parking Concerns

Boloco is planning to open a burrito store at 475 Winter St. in Waltham.

The plan to propose a Boloco burrito store on Winter Street drew some concerns over parking from Waltham City Councilors during a Monday, Aug. 6 public hearing at Waltham City Hall.  Boloco, a Boston-based company whose named stands for "Boston Local Company," has proposed opening a new store at 475 Winter St. The company, during a public hearing with the Waltham City Council on Monday, requested a special permit to operate a fast food permit.  “They are very excited to be coming into the Waltham community,” said Boloco's attorney, Joseph M.
