She plans to revamp the plowing system. Consolidated Public Works Director Michael Chiasson ahs said told McCarthy he does not has enough equipment and that additional equipment is slated for future purchase. The ordinance would require residents to clear their sidewalks.
The proposed ordinance that would require residents to clear snow and ice from their sidewalks will be discussed tonight, March 4 at the City Council’s meeting. City Councillor Gary Marchese proposed the idea recently after hearing of residents’ concerns of sidewalks not cleared during the recent blizzard. The issue will be discussed at the City Council’s Committee of the Whole Meeting at 8 p.m. at City Hall. Currently, the city requires property owners on Main Street to clear their sidewalks within 24 hours of the last snowfall. That regulation applies to both sides of the street from Prospect Hill Road to Linden Street.

The map above, provided by the National Weather Service, shows snowfall in the past 24 hours. It is updated every 6 hours. This is not a map showing overall snow depth: It only tracks the amount of snow that has fallen in the past day. The map is centered around the red marker, which is in the middle of Waltham Patch's coverage area.

After the Blizzard this year I saw numerous sidewalk plows with one tail light and they were barely able to even plow because they were so slow. also the only time I saw them was at 11 o'clock at night trying to rush so they could have school the next day. why aren't they are out all day long? Maybe instead of 3 days of school off it would've only been two.   more ›
