If you're a New England fan, you still might be shaking your head following the Patriots loss Sunday to the Baltimore Ravens in the American Football Conference championship game. With the win, the Ravens advance to Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3 and take on the National Football Conference champ San Francisco 49ers. The New England Patriots host the Baltimore Ravens Gillette Stadium in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, battling for the right to go to their second straight Super Bowl, and sixth in the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era. The NFL Championship Weekend begins Sunday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. on Fox when the Atlanta Falcons host the San Fransisco 49ers to determine the NFC champion. Then, at 6:30 p.m., on CBS, the Patriots kick off against rival Baltimore. A Waltham bar has temporarily altered its name in preparation for the Patriots game.
In response to customer gripes, The Mad Raven on Main Street in Waltham has dropped "raven" from its name and replaced it with "Patriot," according to the Boston Herald. The move comes days before the New England Patriots are set to play the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC championship on Sunday, Jan. 20. Mad Raven owner Mark McAuliffe told the Herald he changed the bar's sign on Monday, Jan. 14 after hearing customers say they would not enter the building until game day. McAuliffe made a similar move for another bar he owns in Walpole, miles from Gillette Stadium. He told the Herald he believes that boosted business at the Walpole bar.
