Fencer Tim Morehouse is competing in the 2012 summer Olympics.
Tim Morehouse, a Brandeis alum competiting as fencer in the 2012 summer Olympics, lost his bid for the gold medal in the men's individual sabre event on Sunday, July 29. Morehouse defeated Veniamin Reshetnikov, of Russia, 15-6 in the round of 32 match and then beat Dmitri Lapkes, of Belarus, 15-13 in a round of 16 match, according to the NBC Olympics results website. Morehouse, however, lost to Diego Occhiuzzi, of Italy, 15-9 in the top eight round. "Thank you everyone! Top8 at the Olympics. Your support meant a lot," Morehouse tweeted during the competition. Tim Morehouse will be competing in fencing events.
Brandeis University alumnus Tim Morehouse, 33, is heading to the 2012 Olympic Games this summer, according to the school. Morehouse, a fencer, is the college’s first Olympian. This summer will be his third Olympic games, according to an article posted on the Brandeis University website. Morehouse, a 2000 graduate of Brandeis University from New York, won a silver medal for the saber event at the 2008 games in Beijing. This year, Morehouse will be competing in the men’s team saber event as well as the men’s individual saber, according to NBC’s Olympics website. With dozens of local athletes and hundreds of events finding who is on when is tough, but here are the times for Massachusetts' Olympians.
The excitement of the 2012 London Olympics begins in a few days, but there are many events that finding the ones you want to watch can be tough. Patch has sifted through the schedules so you will know when the local athletes will be in action. NBC and its networks announced it will show every event, so no matter who you are rooting for you should be able to find his or her competition. Some will be streamed live on the NBC Olympics website’s Live Extra. They are among the best of the best and are ready to prove their mettle. 529 athletes from 45 states will represent the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They are competing in events as diverse as athletics, fencing, rowing, soccer and basketball.
