Watertown Town Councilman John Lawn will face Republican James Dixon in general election on May 10.
9:40 p.m., Ciccone HQ: Earlier tonight, Ciccone thanked his supporters and asked them to "get behind our Democrat" and support Lawn for the May 10 special election. Ciccone received 389 votes out of a total 613 votes cast in Newton. Lawn received 103 of the total votes in Newton, with the most coming in from Ward 1 Precinct 1 (45 votes). 9:08 p.m, Lawn HQ: Patch reporter Matt Tempesta reporting Lawn has officially won the Democratic primary. 9:05 p.m., Durkee HQ: Durkee just said he called Lawn and conceded the race. 8:50 p.m., Ciccone HQ: Ciccone has stepped outside to call Lawn to concede the race. With days to go until the Tuesday, April 12 primary election, Patch recently sat down with Allan Ciccone Jr. (known as Jay to most constituents), a Democratic candidate for the 10th Middlesex District state representative seat. The special general election will be held Tuesday, May 10 and its winner will replace former State Rep. Peter Koutoujian, who was appointed Middlesex County Sheriff earlier this year. Democratic candidates for the 10th Middlesex state rep seat square off at a forum held in Waltham.
Bringing casino gambling to Massachusetts and cutting state budgets were on the minds of three Democrats vying for the 10th Middlesex District state representative seat last week. Check out the above video segment of a Thursday, March 10 forum held during which the Democratic candidates fielded questions on various topics, including health care, casino gambling and taxes. Additional segments will appear on Patch in the coming days. The forum included Waltham City Councilor Gary Marchese, Watertown Town Councilor John Lawn and Newton Alderman Allan Ciccone.
