Supporters Come Out for Goodwin State Senate Campaign Kick-Off

Joe Kearns Goodwin is running for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Middlesex State Senate Seat. State Rep. Cory Atkins endorsed Goodwin at the May 12 campaign kick-off event.

Around 100 supporters stood in front of Joe Kearns Goodwin as he took the microphone following the endorsement of State Rep. Cory Atkins, D-Concord, to deliver remarks at the Saturday afternoon event. Their reasons to support the Concord Democrat ranged from long-term familiarity with the candidate to support for the platform he detailed in the speech. "One of the most amazing and gratifying things was that I knew about half the people in the crowd," Goodwin told Patch. "I feel immensely proud that the people who know me are here but we need to keep working to get more people engaged." Watertown's John Lawn Kicks-off Re-election Bid for 10th Middlesex Seat

Lawn wants to focus on the budget, child abuse laws and improving the Charles River in Waltham and Watertown.

Having been in office for about 10 months, Watertown’s John Lawn is preparing to run for a second term for the 10th Middlesex House seat, which represents parts of Waltham, Watertown and Newton. “I’m enjoying it,” said Lawn, who replaced Peter Koutoujian and won a Special Election last May. “There has certainly been a learning curve. And, I continue to stay involved in local issues, in the district which I live.” The state budget is among the top priorities for Lawn, a former Watertown Town Councilor. “I am going to continue to work on economic developments,” Lawn said. “I think we are getting positive reports from the house budget on local aid.
