Waltham Cop Facing Child Porn Charges Released

Waltham Police Officer Paul Manganelli was arrested this month after allegedly violating his release condition.

A Waltham Police Officer facing federal child pornography charges will be released from custody today, days after he was arrested for allegedly violating the terms of his supervised pre-trial release.  Officer Paul Manganelli will be released from the custody of U.S. Marshals on May 23, however, he must follow several conditions, according to U.S. Attorney spokeswoman Christina Sterling. All Internet-capable devices must be removed from the home he has been staying in. Also, the judge imposed two separate $15,000 security bonds on Manganelli and his parents. If he violates the conditions, the bonds would be revoked. Manganelli must also follow previously imposed conditions which include: he must remain on home confinement at his parents’ …

Waltham Arrests: Assault Charge

The following information was supplied by the Waltham Police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, May 14 Stewart Hill, 42, of 1402 Stearns Hill Rd., arrested and charged with assault and battery. Roberto Pandolfi, 49, of 16 Winter St., arrested and charged with assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime. Steven Wenckus, 49, of Newton, arrested on warrant charges for driving with a suspended registration and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Wednesday, May 15 Tyrone Martinez, 20, of 16 Chestnut St., arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. William Newton, 43, of 85 Robbins St., arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Accused Marathon Bomber and Friend Associate Committed Waltham Murders

A Chechen man living in Florida allegedly confessed to his role in the Waltham murders.

Accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his associate Ibragim Todashev were responsible for the 2011 murders of three men in a Waltham home, according to NBC News. Brendan Mess, Erik Weissman and Raphael Teken were found murdered in a Harding Avenue home on Sept. 12, 2011. According to the NBC News report, the crime started as a drug ripoff, but Tsarnaev and Todashev killed the three men after realizing that the victims could identify them.  Tsarnaev and Todashev, a Chechen, were friends, according to the Washington Post. The new development in the case comes after Federal Bureau of Investigation agents shot and killed Todashev in the early hours of May 22 as they were questioning him for his role in the murders and possible …

Waltham Cop Facing Child Porn Charges Returns to Court Today

Waltham Police Officer Paul Manganelli was arrested in March on child porn charges.

Waltham Police Officer Paul Manganelli is scheduled to appear in court today on a motion that could release him from custody, according to federal court documents.  Manganelli, who is on paid administrative leave from the police department as he faces charges for sending and receiving child porn, was arrested recently after he violated the conditions of his supervised pre-trial release. Prosecutors say Manganelli violated the conditions of his release recently when he logged onto Facebook. At 3 p.m. today, federal judge Leo T. Sorkin is scheduled to hear Manganelli's motion to be released from the custody of U.S. Marshals. If approved, the motion would release Manganelli from custody under several new conditions. Parking Ticket Gives More Insight Into Watertown Shootout

Police found an old ticket issued to a car registered to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev for parking in the area where the shootout occured.

A parking ticket issued during a snow emergency provides more evidence that the Boston Marathon Bombing suspects had visited the Watertown neighborhood where they got into a shootout with Watertown Police, and where one met his end. The parking ticket was issued to a silver Honda registered to Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, according to a report by ABC News. It was issued on Feb. 18, 2011, for parking on Boyston Street during a snow emergency. State and federal authorities are investigatign the possible role Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan played in the 2011 murders of three people in a Waltham home. Waltham Man Sentenced for Worcester Bank Robbery

The man previously pleaded guilty to the charges related to the robbery.

A 30-year-old Waltham man has been sentenced to state prison for allegedly robbing a Worcester bank in October 2012, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. David Hathaway was sentenced to two years to two years and a day in state prison to be followed by five years of probation. A Worcester Superior Court judge handed down the sentence during a Wednesday, May 15 hearing.  Hathaway previously pleaded guilty to two counts of unarmed robbery, one for the bank and the other for the supermarket, according to the newspaper.  Hathaway robbed a bank and supermarket on Boylston Street in Worcester on Oct. 11, 2012, according to the newspaper. Should DUI Alcohol Limit Be Lowered To 0.05 Percent?

The National Transportation Safety Board recommends reducing the limit. Some say it would save lives. Others say it's unreasonable.

One drink could be the standard for drunken driving – at least for some people if the National Transportation Safety Board has its way. On Tuesday, May 14 the NTSB recommended states lower the blood-alcohol threshold for driving under the influence from 0.08 percent to 0.05 percent. About 10,000 deaths a year are related to drunken driving. The NTSB says the lower limit would save 500 to 800 lives a year. Officials at the American Beverage Institute called the proposal "ludicrous." It said the average woman could reach the 0.05 percent limit by having one drink. There were 114 DUI fatalities in Massachusetts in 2012, which were 34 percent of traffic-related fatalities last year, according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving. What do you think…
