How does a homeowner know if a person breaking into their home is unarmed and means no harm? BreakRead More into a home ; expect to get shot.

If you don't want to get shot, don't break into someone's house. I say the old man walks.

This is unfortunate, generally, on both sides. I am just taken aback by the ridiculously biased wayRead More the teens are described in the clip. They look more like "a homecoming king and queen?" So, their "look" leads media representatives in that piece to attempt to drum-up sympathy for them. If history has shown us anything, had those kids been in goodies or of an ethnic minority group, there would not have been any photos of smiling faces or comments about their homecoming-quality.

Lots of important things going on. One being Russia slowly taking over portions of the UkraineRead More under false pretenses of "protecting Russian speaking residents from aggression by a US backed terrorist regime", and we get stories on peanut butter and fluff.

The Fluffernutter SHOULD be the symbol of Massachusetts POLITICIANS at all levels. - - - They wasteRead More time on FLUFF and NUTTERY. - - - But, perhaps, it is not entirely the pols fault. The lapdog media must share part of the blame. - - - A case in point: This stupid story made Patch, but hugely wasteful public works projects and gross public sector union contracts are never mentioned. - - - But the pols know perfectly well they will NEVER be held to account for ANYTHING, because they can distract the media and the public with nonsense like a state sandwich. - - - I think we should have a 'state horses anatomy part'. I leave it to the reader to figure out WHICH part I'd suggest... HINT: Look under the tail.

Hey Jerry, I am talking about you specific people on this specific blog post with my originalRead More comment. I, personally, don't give two farts about Sarah Palin or any of her prodigy, and I never once went on any message board or blog post and said the first thing about her or president shrubbery..... and I said as much in my original post. Now, if you'd like to berate me on the point of my post instead of your perceived sins of all liberals, please do. Until and unless you are ready to do that though, I invite you to not lump me with anybody else because I'm an individual.... and maybe learn how to comprehend what you're reading while you're at it.
B. Dub April 24, 2014 at 09:32 am
It's "progeny", not "prodigy". It's kind of tough to comprehend what we'reRead More reading when it is written so poorly.

And I love the automatic labelling as a woman hater just because we don't like Hillary. ObviouslyRead More if you disagree with Obama, then you're racist. But what about if we are sick of John McCain? So now I'm a woman-hater, a racist, and a man-hater (veteran-hater? Ageist?)? Who does that leave? I am not a woman-hater. I'm a Hillary-hater.

TO THE EDITOR....I'm seriously disappointed by the removal of peoples comments overnight.... If youRead More cannot see the flow and context of comments made,, how is one supposed to understand the comments you read? Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.
Jennifer April 24, 2014 at 08:53 am

Why do I have a problem with the Gates foundation? I think I said it before. They funded theRead More organizations that wrote the standards. They funded the organizations that reviewed the standards. They fuinded every group that supposedly had "input" into the development of the standards. There is NO record of what the "input" consisted of, or if any of it was implemented. All we really have on record is the Content advisor for Mathematics, Jim Milgrim, prof. at Stanford, explaining why he refused to endorse the math standard. We have the English Language content advisor, Sandra Slotsky, explaining why she, likewise, could not sign off on the standards. And she explains that she has sat on many such committees before, in her role in developing Massachussetts very well-respected standards, and she said that this is the first time she was required to sign a non-disclosure. She said such committees are usually subject to "Sunshine" laws. These are specific people, highly qualified people, giving specific and detailed testimony. But you would rather keep pointing to the CC website vaguely referring to "how educators were involved".
Jennifer April 24, 2014 at 09:39 am
I looked at the Wisconsin link you provided, and it gave a list of teachers on an ELA standardsRead More leadership team. This was out of context, and undated, so I dont really have an indication that it had anything to do with reviewing the CC standards, but assuming you just didn't copy enough pages into the link.....thay could list every teacher in America, by name, school, and department. If there are no records of what, if any recommendations were made, leading to what if any changes to the standards, I dont really see what that would prove. And since, as I have said, teachers and administrators at the local level are presumably under a gag order - if their states have signed agreements similar to NY - I don't know how we can be expected to trust anything about the CC. As I have said, I have several friends from college and HS who have been teaching for 25 + yrs, and my sister-in-law is a Vice Principal at a highly-ranked school in a highly-ranked state - and they all, across the board, HATE the program and what it does to children. And you can read the standards, but you do not have access to the agreements the states have signed, and do not know what other , untried methods of teaching will be mandatory under the Core.

I agree with B. Dub 100%! How was this kid able to scale a fence and just walk right over to theRead More plane? TSA: for all the harassing you do in the terminal...you ain't all that!! As far as the kid being a runaway..maybe he does face some serious abuse issues at home. He's damn lucky to be alive. Wow, I'm weighing in a bit late but had to after reading the whack-job Dee spouting religiousRead More diatribe. It is individuals like her that make normal people think that religious people are all hell and brimstone, spewing scriptures with a mouth filled with spit and foam. Go back into your hovel Dee. If you don't like homosexuality then I suggest you do not partake in it, otherwise, as Jesus says, "love one another, Judge not lest ye be judged" etc. Growing up with a Pentecostal preacher father I have seen religious fanaticism and I've learned that the poison inside of someone affects their own soul and makes them the opposite of what Jesus taught us to be.
