WPO Musicians Get Into Holiday Pops Spirit

As the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra rehearses for its annual Holiday Pops concert on Sunday, December 1st, some musicians have offered their thoughts on what's special to them about the Pops and the holiday season:

Al Altman, Violin:  "It's lighter music that allows the musicians to be part of the holiday spirit."

Cedric Kam, Trombone: "I just love the music, and have since I was a little kid."

Margaret Kearns, Oboe:  "It brings people together to hear some of their favorite music."

Kathy Kalogeras, Viola: "I just love Christmas music--I'd feel deprived if I didn't get a chance to play the Nutcracker."  [Blogger's Note:  I'd feel deprived if I didn't get a chance to hear the Nutcracker!]

Michael Koehrsen, Horn: "It's always fun to play these familiar favorites."

John Monahan, Trumpet: "I always look forward to the Pops because it's something special we do for the community, and the pieces are like old friends."

The WPO's Holiday Pops really is special, which is why year after year, so many audience members keep returning for great fun and good memories to kick off the holiday season.  The musicians' enjoyment and spirit are contagious, which you can feel when the orchestra starts playing, and the room is full of holiday pleasure.  You can't help but smile, tap your feet, hum along (and sing along with the actual Holiday Singalong), while enjoying refreshments and deciding which raffle prizes you'd like to win.

There's nothing quite like a live musical performance, and if a holiday gathering is your kind of fun, you won't want to miss the WPO's Holiday Pops--a guaranteed good time for you, family, and friends.

Seats are reserved in advance, and now is the time; you can save by reserving a table for ten.  More details below.

Speaking for the musicians and staff, I invite you to come and share our spirit and musical enjoyment at the event that's the first and best Pops of the season!

The WPO Holiday Pops is sponsored in part by People's United Bank, who we gratefully acknowledge for their generosity.
