Festive Events Give the WPO a Boost

The Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra had wonderful days at the recent Italian Festa on Waltham Common and more recent Waltham Riverfest (pictured here), where we had a record number of sign-ups for our e-mail list and invited people to vote on their preferred special event, or submit an idea of their own, with a chance of winning a $100 value gift basket.  We also had a fun, interactive music quiz based on pieces that will be played in our upcoming season. There was a show of great interest: some who were surprised that there is a WPO, and those who were thrilled to hear that children are admitted free to our regular concerts!  Something very important to us is that we also met at least half a dozen musicians who expressed interest in playing with the orchestra.

In addition, the WPO Brass Festival Quartet gave a stellar performance on Moody Street, with a varied program that included Telemann and George M. Cohan.

All in all, we are pleased to be a very friendly and approachable group, and always welcome inquiries, questions, comments.  Our Music Director and Conductor, Michael Korn, works very well with our musicians and understands how to bring out the best in all players, on every level.  So many of our musicians have stated how much they enjoy playing under Michael’s direction. The Board of Directors of the WPO is very committed to offering the best performances, works hard to increase funding and interest, and we often have fun doing it.
