It was nice to see the number of parents and school committee members that came out to the mayor's meeting last night regarding Fitz parents concerns. It is was good that the mayor demonstrated her concern and care of our children's education. It is genuine. However, I left the meeting disappointed that the question of what is being done about the instability within the school administrative ranks unanswered.
We are left with administrators that leave top of the line facilities with excellent teachers and involved parents yearning for stability and consistency.
Retention of quality administrators (including superintendents) is vital to any successful school system. This can only happen with a communicated and consistent plan and empowered administrators that are supported to stay around long enough to accomplish the objectives.
