Newton-Born Gracie Gold, U.S. Team Win Bronze in Team Skate

Team USA skated to a bronze medal in Sunday's inaugural team skate event.

Team USA pulled away with a bronze medal Sunday in the first-ever team skate event of the XXII Winter Games in Sochi. Grabbing gold was Team Russia followed by Canada with the silver medal.

Massachusetts' Gracie Gold clinched the bronze medal for Team USA with her second-place finish in the women's free skate. She finished second to Russian teen prodigy, Yulia Lipnitskaya. 

Gold was born in Newton and grew up in Easton before moving to Worcester.

Gold and the rest of Team USA,  including Jeremy Abbott, Jason Brown, Ashley Wagner, Marissa Castelli, Simon Shnapir, Meryl Davis and Charlie White took to the podium following the competition.

The medal ceremony will be Monday night in Olympic Park.
