Waltham Schools To Receive Money For Transporting Homeless Students

Previously, Waltham had been transporting homeless students to and from schoo without being reimbursed.

The Waltham Public Schools will be reimbursed for the costs of transporting homeless students to the city school district as well as outside districts, according to the Boston Globe.

Previously, . Neither the federal nor state government, however, had been providing funding for the mandate despite the state's placing the students in temporary housing in Waltham hotels.

Gov. Deval patrick recently approved the funds as part of the state's fiscal 2013 budget according to the Globe. The student the district attends as well as the public school district of the community the student lives in must split the cost.
