Waltham Students Predicted Drug Lab Issues

Local students predicted problems for state laboratory.

Brandeis Unviersity students, in a study, predicted a lack of funding would lead to major issues at the William A. Hinton State Labratory Institute which is now under scrutiny after former state chemist Annie Dookhan allegedly faked results at the lab, according to the Boston Herald.

In the paper, titled "Advocacy For Public Change", three students warned that low funding levels for the lab could eventually lead to disaster, according to the newspaper. The paper, however, does not predict that a chemist would allegedly fake results.

The study says low funding could lead to the spread of diseases that would pose health risks for state residents, according to the Herald.
