Waltham Principal Resigned In January

A Waltham school principal recently resigned from her post less than a year after taking it, according to Waltham School Committee minutes.

Sara Lane resigned on Jan. 11 as the principal of the Henry J. Whittemore Elementary School, according to minutes of the School Committee’s Jan. 16 meeting. Lane was hired in July 2012 to replace Deborah Butts. The committee accepeted Lane's resignation during that meeting. The minutes do not specify why she resigned. 

Longtime Waltham educator Charles McInnis has taken over as interim principal, according to the minutes. McInnis previously served as the interim principal at the James Fitzgerald Elementary School and was a teacher for several grades from 1974 - 1991 in Waltham, according to his resume posted on the Whittemore School's website.
