In what is likely to come as a shock to no one, schools are closed in Bristol and Warren Tuesday.
The Bristol-Warren Regional School District announced the closing just after 2 p.m. Monday, as Hurricane Sandy's effects began hitting the region. The storm is expected to intensify through the afternoon and evening, continuing through the night. At its peak, the storm should send heavy rain and sustained winds as high as 40 mph into Bristol and Warren, with gusts potentially reaching 70 mph.
