What Caused Waltham's Water Bacteria Spike?

A broken valve in a city-owned pipe may have caused a recent spike in bacteria in Waltham's water supply, according to the Boston Globe.

City engineers are inspecting the pipe to make sure it does not cause more issues, according to the Globe. The development comes days after Waltham officials discovered elevated levels of coliform bacteria in the city's water. Coliform can indicate the presence of other pathogens in water.
