Ways to Deal With Waltham Commuter Rail Outages

The interruptions in service will only be on weekends.

The MBCR is advising commuters about ongoing service interruptions on the Fitchburg/South Acton line. The interruptions are part of a repair project.

  • Weekend train service will start and stop at South Acton between June 1 and Sept. 1. This will allow for work between the South Acton and Fitchburg stops.
  • Weekend train service will start and stop at the Brandeis/Roberts stop from Sept. 7 to Nov. 17. This will allow for repairs between Brandeis/Roberts and Fitchburg.
  • Regular Sunday service will be available on the weekends of Labor and Day and Thanksgiving.
  • Substitute buses will NOT be available during the service interruptions.
The service interruptions are part of a three-year repair project on the Fitchburg/South Acton line to improve signals, tracks, bridges and stations.
