Scott Brown (R), Elizabeth Warren (D): U.S. Senate

Scott Brown has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate since a January 2010 special election held to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy. Brown defeated state Attorney General Martha Coakley with 1,168,107 votes, or 51.9 percent, to her 1,058,682 votes, or 47.1 percent.

U.S. Congressman Ed Markey (D), Tom Tierney (R): 5th Congressional District

Ed Markey has been the Conressman representing Waltham for years. He faces off against Tom Tierney, an actuary consultant, who post his previous bid for Congress in 2010. Two years ago, Markey defeated Gerry Demobrowski in the general election. 

State Rep. John Lawn (D), Francis Stanton (R): Mass. House, 10th Middlesex District. 

Lawn has been the state representative representing parts of Waltham, Watertown and Newton since he replaced Peter Koutoujian in a special election. He faces off against Stanton, a Waltham teacher. In 2010, Lawn defeated Republican Jim Dixon, of Waltham.

Mike Barrett (D), Sandi Martinez (R): Mass. State Senate, 3rd Middlesex District. 

Barrett, a former state legislator and currently a Lexington resident, faces off against Martinez. of Chelmsford. Incumbent Susan Fargo chose not to run for reelection.

Incumbent Marilyn Devaney (D), Tom Sheff (I), Gov. Council.

Incumbent of Watertown faces off against Newton resident Tom Sheff. The Gov. Council reccomends nominees for judge posts in Massachusetts, but the governor confirms them. 

Peter Koutoujian (D), Ernesto Petrone (U), Middlesex County Sheriff.

Koutoujian was appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick in 2012 to replace former Sheriff James DiPaola who shot himself in a Maine hotel room.

UPDATES FROM THE WALTHAM POLLS

12:40 a.m., Nov. 7: John Lawn has won another term as the 10th Middlesex State Rep. and Mike Barrett has won the race for the 3rd Middlesex State Senate seat. 

Also, Marilyn Devaney will return to the Governor's Council. 

11:05 p.m: Elizabeth Warren has defeated Scott Brown in the U.S. Senate race and Ed Markey has been reelected to the 5th U.S. Congressional District.

Also, Barack Obama won Massachusetts. 

8:30 p.m.: Waltham has posted its final election results. The winners are: Barack Obama for President, Elizabeth Warren for U.S. Senate, Ed Markey for U.S. Congress, 5th District, Marilyn Devaney for Governor's Council, Michael Barrett for 3rd Middlesex State Senate, John Lawn for 10th Middlesex State Rep. and Peter Koutoujian for Middlesex County Sheriff. 

Ballot Question: Question 1 (Right to Repair) and Question 3 (Medical Marijuana both won, and Question 2 (Right to Die) lost. 

4:49 p.m.:  Waltham City Clerk Russ Malone told the Boston Globe, according to its Waltham Your Town Twitter feed. He expects 28,000 voters to cast ballots today, around 4,000 more than the 2008 election. He also told the Globe he believes voters are more passionate in this election cycle than the last. 

2:37 p.m.: As of 1:43 p.m., 1,023 voters had cast ballots at the Ward 1, precinct 2 polling place at Waltham High School. At that time, voter traffic was steady with a small line.

As of around 1:23 p.m., 533 voters had cast ballots at the Ward 6, precinct 2 polling place at the Arthur J. Clark Government Center. That figure is about 25 percent of the approximately 2,000 total registered voters, according to election warden Georgie Hallock and more than double the 200 voters they saw during the primary election. She called it "superior" turnout.

As of around 12:52 p.m., 787 voters had cast ballots at the Ward 8, precinct 2 polling place at the former South middle school. That is almost half of the approximately 1,800 registered voters. Traffic there was slow, but steady.
