Tom Stanley Sounds Off on Waltham Mayor's Comments on Future

Stanley avoided criticizing the mayor in his comments.

Despite Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy saying she is considering seeking another term, City Councilor Tom Stanley says that won't change his plans.

Stanley, in an interview with Waltham Patch, said he still plans to run for mayor in the 2015 mayoral election. Stanley's comments comes days after McCarthy told Waltham Patch she was considering running again despite previously announcing her current term would be her last.

"She is welcome to do what she wants," Stanley told Waltham Patch, noting he passed on running for Mayor in 2011 after McCarthy told him her current term would be her last. "At this point, Waltham deserves a healthy debate on its future. I am eagerly awaiting the mayoral race."
