Plans For Lake Street Apartments Cancelled
Developers of the site have announced a change in their plans.
The developer who proposed building an apartment complex on Lake Street is withdrawing its plans, according to city documents.
Del Mar Realty Trust has requested withdrawal of its proposal to rezone the property to Business B, which would have allowed the new apartment complex, according to an Oct. 3 letter to the city from attorney Philip McCourt, who represents the developer. McCourt asked the City Council to approve the request at its upcoming Oct. 9 meeting at City Hall.
The move comes after neighbors and councilors panned the proposal at a recent meeting. The developer cited that response as the reason for its withdrawal.

"Based on the input from Councilors and the abutters at the public hearing and the negative reaction to the chance of any business use being available on the premises, which was not the intent of the applicant, we have decided to explore other options for the property," the letter reads.
