Debit/Credit Cards for Waltham Parking Spaces?

Currently, motorists cannot pay for parking in a city-owned parking space by using their debit or credit cards. However, that could change.

Councilor Robert Logan, during the June 24 council meeting, suggested the city adopt the credit/debit payment options for its current meters and spaces. Having those options, he said, would make the downtown area increasingly attractive to patrons and businesses.

"More and more, we are a cashless society. People expect to be able to use that plastic anywhere they go," he said.

Currently, the city uses a "pay by space" system, but Logan said that can easily be modified to include credit and debit payment options. Logan's resolution was sent to the Committee of the Whole for future discussion.
