Bakeries in Waltham?

The Waltham City Council meeting begins at 8 p.m. on Oct. 16.

The Waltham City Council and Board of Survey and Planning will hold a joint hearing on Oct. 16 to review and discuss a proposed zoning amendment that would allow for retail bakeries in certain areas of the city, according to the agenda.

Currently, zoning regulations do not allow for retail bakeries in Waltham.

Under the proposal, the new zoning regulations would allow for bakeries to operate in business A districts, business B areas, Business C areas as well as commercial and industrial areas. They would not need a special permit form the City Council to operate, but would need one if they intended to make a more intense use of the space, according to the proposed language. City Councilor Robert Logan wrote the proposed amendment.
