When Will You Be Able to Pay for Waltham Parking Using Debit Cards?

Waltham parking is about to get easier.

Remember how Waltham approved letting you pay for parking with your debit or credit card?

The new capability will debut in parking lots in February, according to Waltham Traffic Engineer J. Michael Garvin.

Technicians plan to install the new system at several lots this week, Garvin said. The new system will be placed in the city-owned lots on Spruce and Crescent streets, as well as the Waltham Public Library lot. It will also be installed in the westerly lot at the MBTA Commuter rail station.

The city plans to test the system before fully implementing it. During that time, the card readers will be covered, Garvin said.

There will be a $1 minimum (which equals an hour of parking) to use a card, Garvin said. Anybody wishing to park for less than an hour will have to use coins.
