A Waltham couple is facing charges of breaking into a Watertown apartment complex on Waverly Avenue, according to Watertown Police.

Carol Ann Cotoni, 47, of 300 Lake St. and Joseph Stallings, 33, both Waltham residents were arrested on Oct. 14 at around 9:30 p.m. after police spotted them breaking into Watertown Housing Authority Apartments at 55 Wavely Ave.

Police have charged Cotoni with breaking and enterting a building at night while Stallings is charged with breaking and entering a building at night and domestic assault battery, according to Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

The incident began when a witness spotted a woman trying to break into an apartment, Lawn said.

"The witness spotted a woman shouldering an apartment door (trying to break the door open)," Lawn said.

Officers found Cotoni and later spotted Stallings fleeing a second unit. Stallings was later apprehended.
