Former Watertown Councilor Pleads Guilty to Waltham Pot Growing Operation

The sentencing will be held on Feb. 27

A former Watertown councilor has pleaded guilty to charges of running a marijuana growing operation in Waltham.

Thomas "Gus" Bailey pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Also, Bailey's ex-wife, Barbara Waldman, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering in connection with the operation, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Both had been scheduled for a Nov. 18 trial. The pair will be sentenced on Feb. 27 at the federal courthouse in Boston.

Bailey was arrested in 2011 after police discovered he was running a marijuana growing operation in a building on Lexington Street. Waldman was later arrested for laundering money in connection with the operation.
