Waltham Police Looking For Car In Hit-And-Run

Anybody with information should call police at 781-314-3600.

Waltham Police are searching for a car involved in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Sunday, Dec. 16, according to their Facebook page.

While police did not issue a specific description of the car, they said it should have damage on its passenger side and a missing passenger side mirror. The car is "most likely," blue, according to police.

The incident began when officers responded to a report of a car striking a pedestrian at 8:20 p.m., according to police. They found a 68-year-old woman had been struck by a car. The woman had been walking in the road while pushing a shopping cart west on High Street, according to police. She was not in a crosswalk.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The Waltham Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident. Anybody with information can call police at 781-314-3600.

The person that hit that lady definitely knew what he or she did. There has to be somebody out there that heard the whole thing. The person that got hit was the oriental lady that walks around and gets all the cans and bottles. The lady and carriage were hit so hard that there are still bottles, broken glass, and cans in the bushes in front of the house and the line of debris that was cleaned up stretched almost 100 ft away all over the street. You know who you are, make it right. She might not be one of the upper class citizens of Waltham, but she has a family and people that care for her. Sooner or later you will be caught so the best thing you can do right now is to come forward before they come to you.

I hope they catch the person who did this. And no one "deserves" to be hit by a car. But perhaps it's time that people stop walking in the street with shopping carriages. I, for one, am tired of waiting for traffic to clear in the opposing direction so I can drive around these people. Perhaps the Waltham Police can do a better job of getting these carriages, and the pedestrians who push them, out of our streets to increase safety for all of us.

I've seen this woman walking down Linden toward Main Street and have been worried that she could be hit by a car. I hope she recovers soon. No one deserves this, ever.
