Waltham Police Investigating Pedestrian Strike

The victim was a 70-year-old man.

Waltham Police are investigating a car striking a pedestrian early Sunday morning. 

At 1:04 a.m., police responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of Main and Church streets, according police. Crews arrived and discovered a 70-year-old man had been hit been a car as he was crossing Main Street in a southern direction.

The driver was a 25-year-old Waltham resident, according to the police.

A MedFlight helicopter transported the victim to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, according to police. As of Sunday, he was in critical but stable condition with head, shoulder and arm injuries.

According to police, car’s driver did not appear to be impaired. The incident remains under investigation.
