Waltham Police Investigating Third Purse Robbery in One Week

This is the third in a series of purse robberies in Waltham.

Waltham Police are investigating the third in a series of purse robberies over the past week. 

On Dec. 20, at around 5:06 p.m., police responded to 880 Main St. for a report of a purse snatching, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Joseph Guigno.

A 73-year-old Waltham woman had just used the ATM in the Bank Of America, Guigno said. The woman was walking to her car when a man pushed her to the ground and began trying to pull the woman's purse away, Guigno said. The purse strap snapped and the suspect fled north on prospect Street with the purse, Guigno said.

The suspect is described as a white man at around 5' 2'', but witnesses told police the suspect was 5' 7'', Guigno said. 

The victim sustained a head laceration and was taken to a hospital, Guigno said. The victim may have a hip injury. 

No arrests have been made in the incidents.
